Biryani
Biryani is a flavorful rice and meat dish popular in South Asia.
Ingredients
- 500g Chicken (cut into pieces)
- 2 cups Basmati Rice
- 2 large Onions (thinly sliced)
- 2 medium Potatoes (peeled & cubed)
- 2 tbsp Biryani Masala
- 1/2 cup Yogurt
- Salt to taste
- Fresh Coriander & Mint leaves (chopped)
- 2 tbsp Oil or Ghee
Instructions
- Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak for 20–30 minutes.
- Wash the chicken and marinate with yogurt, salt, and biryani masala. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry potatoes until golden brown. Set aside.
- In the same oil, fry onions until golden and crisp. Set aside some for garnishing.
- Add marinated chicken to the pan and cook until it's 80% done.
- In a separate pot, boil the soaked rice until it's 70% cooked, then drain the water.
- In a deep pan, layer rice over the chicken. Add fried potatoes, onions, coriander, and mint.
- Cover tightly and cook on low heat (dum) for 15–20 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
